Dukedom
Description
Dukedom is a kingdom management game in the vein of Hamurabi. The game is played in turns of one year and each turn the player must decide how much of the last grain harvest is turned into food, how much land to buy or sell, and how much land to be planted with grain. Planting of grain must be done carefully as land that's intensively used will become depleted over time. Every turn the player has to take into account taxes paid to the king, births and deaths that change the player's amount of peasants, and expenses for upholding your castle and paying for milling the grain. Various events will affect the player's plans such as rat infestations, diseases, peasant levy's ordered by the king and wars.
Wars with neighboring dukes involves hiring mercenaries (which must be paid), and attacking or defending. The winner in a war takes grain and land from the other duke. If the player becomes too powerful the king might start to subsidize wars against the player. If the player manages to fully assimilate the land of another duke the king will start to directly wage war against the player. If the player manages to win this war the game is won.
