Astro Wars

Astro Wars is a space-based shoot-em-up. Your base is under attack by aliens. Their mother-ship is unloading hordes of fighters to smash through your shields and disable all eight of your defending spacecraft. There is no time to waste. You must shoot down the attackers and limit the damage to your base. Then, once the situation has stabilized, you must take your remaining spacecraft in pursuit of the fleeing mother-ship.

During the chase stage, you will be bombarded by fast zig-zagging missiles. The mother-ship can be destroyed by a well placed shot, but if you can't manage that soon enough, it will escape. Either way, you will have time to repair your shields and replenish your fleet before the alien's inevitable return with more capable equipment. Once you lose all of your spaceships in one of the raids, then the game is over.
