Nintendo wasted a cartridge space for unnecessary extras instead of SMB2 and SMB3.
The Good
The Bad
The Bottom Line
In the beginning I must that I'm very disappointed because I expected much more then I get. First of all there are only two games "Super Mario Bros" And "Super Mario Bros: Lost Levels".
The plus is that games in fact are unchanged.... but there is a one thing. The resolution in the NES its much bigger then GBC.
So they have to cut the gameplay area. But wait U can move the view up and down - and thats the most irritating thing in this game.
I really don't understand why they didn't make this automatic.
Next thing.
Extras.
-
Record list - Helpful
-
Game characters Album - Wastage of cartridge space.
-
Toybox - Again,no games.
-
You vs. Boo - Finally some extra game. Player vs. Cpu (cloud). Nice challenge game.
Conclusion:
I'm disappointed because I've payed for this game a lot of money and I didn't get recompense of it in game.
The question is why didn't Nintendo put there a SMB2 or 3 instead of some unnecessary extras?
There was enough space to put even these two games.

This game is much improved from the original without ruining it.
The Good
I liked the new added features like Yoshi's eggs and the challenge mode. I like the art you could unlock too. It made you want to do better to unlock more secrets in the game. When you play challenge mode, you can record your scores. This game basically takes the original and makes it better without spoiling the fun. It also has new hidden coins.
The Bad
It didn't like the same things in this that I didn't like from the original. Once again, it gives you 500 seconds and 3.5 seconds takes up the space of 1. Also, in a way, having Yoshi's eggs spoils it but I don't really mind. Once again, Super Mario BROS. Deluxe, fails to have Luigi in the game.
The Bottom Line
Super Mario Bros. Deluxe is much improved from the original Mario game. Nothing has been manipulated so that it ruins the game. With an all new challenge mode that allows you to save scores and Yoshi's eggs, this game only gets better. It makes you try harder to play the game to unlock the levels in challenge mode so you can test yourself against the set scores. Try to find the new hidden coins and earn special Mario art. Overall, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe has improved the original game and given it a new name.

Does the classic NES game still hold up?
The Good
Ten years after it’s initial release, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, returns players to the Mushroom Kingdom. Does the game still hold up a decade later?
As Mario or Luigi, you must traverse 8 worlds of the Mushroom Kingdom, to save the Princess from the clutches of the evil Bowser. The plot of course is identical to that of the original NES game, sparse as it is, of course since this is just a platformer that really does not matter.
The Graphics look better, the colors are sharper and brighter, a back lit screen would have really helped here. Who would have thought that the Game Boy Color would have been more capable than the NES. That really just shows how weak the NES was if a hand-held system has better graphics.
The familiar sound and music is all here in tact. Unlike the graphics they do not sound better, but at least they are all here and accounted for.
The Gamplay is classic Mario Bros. With some new things, now you can switch to Luigi on the fly. A map like Super Mario Bros. 3 guides you from level to level and there are many mini-games and stuff you can play.
The Bad
On the Bad side, what is up with having to press the D-pad up or over to see more of the screen, couldn’t Nintendo fit the whole screen?
The Bottom Line
This is the definitive version of Super Mario Bros. It surpasses it’s NES counterpart, in just about every way possible.

Trivia
Version differences
You cannot see as much of a scene at one time as on the NES version because the Game Boy Color does not have the same dimensions as a standard television set.
