Rad Skater Apocalypse
Description
Rad Skater Apocalypse is a retro-inspired indie-punk game set on the streets of Fitzroy, Melbourne, Australia. You play as a hipster scooting along the street on your skateboard just at the moment that 8-bit invaders start breaking through into our reality, to take revenge for the beating they got in the arcades of the '80s.
It is an endless skating game where the character collects mix tapes and avoiding and dispatches a variety of arcade-inspired enemies such as flashing space invaders, alley cat dogs, pixelated zombies, and strange Dalek-like mini-bosses. More enemies and powers are unlocked by achieving high scores.
It is a commercial game unlike the later-released free-to-play version Rad Skater Apocalypse Boom!

Inspirations
The game is a homage to many classic games from the '80s, including references to Alley Cat, Space Invaders, Dr Who's Daleks, the sounds of the Amiga, classic Sierra games like Leisure Suit Larry and Space Quest, Streets of Rage 2, the classic Atari 2600 joystick, the C64 loading screen, and the Pac-Man cherries.
The trailer for the game also includes many homages to classic pop culture of the '80s, such as the Elfstones of Shannara book, Walkman cassette players, mix tape cassettes, old '80s skateboards, Amstrad programming books, Sierra's King Graham, and other elements loved by many, including Murray Lorden, the developer of the game.
The game itself also features the streets of Fitzroy, Melbourne, Australia as the backdrop of the game's action. Melbourne is famous for its street art, which is showcased on the walls you skate past.
