Inside Trader: The Authentic Stock Trading Game
Description official description
The object of Inside Trader is "to make millions of dollars without being apprehended by the [SEC]." The player starts with $30,000 and makes money playing the fictional stock market, keeping an eye on current events via "the wire service." It is entirely possible to play the game without using any inside information. (But what's the fun in that?)
The commands are very simple. The player either buys or sells stock, pays for information, gets reports, and, if caught, cooperates with the SEC or destroys evidence. Cooperating means an automatic fine, but he can continue playing. If he does nothing, there's a small chance they'll drop the charges, but if they don't he'll pay a higher fine. If he destroys evidence, there's a slight better chance of getting off scott-free, but getting caught means jail time and the end of the game.

The Good
Try to play under the radar and it will take longer before making millions. Make some risky informed investments and you will soon be rewarded. Beware the SEC is always lurking.
The Bad
I was always missing a graph of the stocks. That would have put this game at 5 stars for me.
The Bottom Line
I always had fun playing this game when it first came out and spent quite a few hours trading back in the day. It actually taught me as a kid as much as I needed to know about how the stock market works more or less.

Trivia
Editing
Instructions for customizing the company names, wire service events, and inside information database are included. (By default, all company names are fictional.) Each requires editing an ASCII text file in an exact format, so Cosmi must have had great faith in their customers' abilities.
