Overview edit · view history
Denuvo Software Solutions GmbH is an Austrian company which created the Denuvo series of products meant for digital rights management (DRM), anti-tamper and anti-cheat protection, and protection against emulation.
The company was formed in 2014 after a management buyout of the team at Sony DADC Europe GmbH which had previously created the SecuROM DRM system. On 23 January 2018, it was purchased by the cybersecurity firm Irdeto.
The Denuvo anti-tamper system has been a frequent subject of controversy due to its effect on computer performance and longevity, despite their own denials of such claims and analyses. For several years, it has been known to be particularly difficult to crack, and it took the cracking scene two years after the first release of the Denuvo DRM to publish a crack for a game protected with this system (Rise of the Tomb Raider in 2016).
