The Nintendo eShop of its Russian subsidiary has been effectively wind down to a standstill, with customers not able to purchase new games (in Russian rubles or otherwise), create new accounts (with a country setting of Russia). Re-downloading previously bought games is still possible.

October 30, 2002

The Commission of the European Communities find Nintendo guilty as charged and Nintendo of Europe GmbH together with Nintendo Co., Ltd. have to pay a fine of €149,128,000. (A transcription of the case can be found in this PDF document.)

April 25, 2000

After four years of investigation after a filed complaint from Omega Electro BV in 1996 against Nintendo Netherlands B.V. and Nintendo UK Ltd., the Commission of the European Communities opens a case against Nintendo of Europe, Nintendo Co., Ltd. and 12 European Nintendo distributors for blocking parallel trades and operating a resale price maintenance policy (and therefore violating the European Community treaty).
