It's been a while since we've done one of these posts, but work has been ongoing behind the scenes. You can look forward to more regular update news in the future, but for now here are a few small things we've done lately.

MobyPro

  • The beta of the new game browser can now filter out NSFW games.

General Updates

  • NSFW results can now be filtered from the quicksearch. Click the link on the search results page to toggle this setting.
    • If you choose to hide them, they will also be hidden from the search-as-you-type results (the dropdown that appears below the search box).
  • Bugfix: Adding a game from the missing games list will now correctly add the identifier.
  • Admin bugfix: moving credits between platforms should now work in all cases.
  • Various stability improvements and backend updates.

I think I've seen NSFW games sometimes appear in groups related to more general things like engines etc. Maybe needs a selectable filter there too?

Good point. I've added this to the todo list.

It's always so good to see what's in these updates, even if they're not very big ones. Keep 'em coming!

I'm surprised that NSFW is visible by default and only hideable through settings. Don't most websites make it hidden by default and you have to go to settings to turn it on? I'm curious about the reason that Moby decided to do it the opposite way.

They are in fact hidden by default, and you must click a link on the results page to show them. Doing this sets a cookie on the browser, so it's not necessary to do it every time, and affects the default behavior of the beta game browser as well.

As for why they were not hidden before: MobyGames has been around for a long time. A couple of decades ago, hiding-by-default wasn't as common a practice.
