The Apple II (stylized Apple ][) is a microcomputer released in June 1977 and the first big successful computer product by the Apple Computer Company. The Apple II was in many ways an upgraded of its predecessor, the Apple I.

Like its predecessor, the Apple II used a MOS 6502 processor. But instead of being sold as kit the computer came with a custom case with integrated keyboard. Also included were two "game paddles" (wired controllers with a dial and a slider) for use in games. The computer used black and white graphics while in text-mode, but could also display color graphics.

The Apple II proved a huge success and would become a staple of US classrooms, causing educational titles to be released for it well into the 1990s.

In the Europe the Apple II was also marketed as the ITT 2020 by International Bell Telephone Company in the BeNeLux region and Microsense Computer Ltd. in the UK. This clone of the Apple II used a PAL video standard, making it easier to hook it up to a European television set.
