Atari 8-bit Games List

The Atari 8-bit platform documents games for 8-bit microcomputers by Atari. The computers were built around the MOS Technology 6502 chip and ran Atari DOS as an operating system. Most models ran Atari BASIC.

This includes the following models:

• Atari 400 (November 1979) - The initial budget model with a membrane keyboard and 8KB RAM.
• Atari 800 (November 1979) - The initial high-end model with a conventional keyboard, cartridge slot, and RAM expansion slots for up to 48KB.
• Atari 1200XL (1983) - A new model featuring a new keyboard layout and 64KB RAM.
• Atari 600XL (1983) - A budget model with only 16KB RAM.
• Atari 800XL (1983) - A cheaper to produce version of the 1200XL.
• Atari 65XE (1985) - Similar to the 800XL, but using the form factor of the Atari 520ST
• Atari 130XE (1985) - This model upped the RAM to 128KB.
• Atari 800XE (1985) - German/Czechoslovak version of the 65XE.
• Atari XEGS (1987) - A video game console that is based on the 65XE hardware and mostly compatible with the software of the computers.
